Dear Volunteer:
Thank you
for your interest in Cans For Charity.
Cans for charity was founded on several assumptions: One
that humans have felt sense of humanity, community and solidarity. Second, that
it is probably much easier to ask people to donate their redeemable cans and
bottles that would otherwise end up in the garbage than ask them for monetary
donations. Third, that cumulative savings, however small, can and will have an
impact on the quality of life for those in great need. Having realized this
brings us to the fourth. In this country, untold billions of cans and bottles
end up in landfills. This not only poses environmental stress, but also takes up
prime land that may otherwise be use for farming, housing, or recreational
space.
If we can recycle a certain percentage of these
bottles and cans, while at the same time mitigate the stress posed to the
environment, and contribute their redemption proceeds to some cause in great
need, it might affect a little change in the world. For us, that is worthy goal
-- to start a Cans For Charity in both local and business communities across
America. Five cents may not seem like much here in the United States, however,
its cumulative savings can and will have an impact for those in desperate need.
Cans For Charity aims to
raise enough funds to help other charitable endeavors involved in the following
areas:
We hope you can
participate with us on the ground floor in helping us to realize this wonderful
dream
Our current
fundraiser projects are listed on this website:
www.cansforcharity.org. Funds raised for these causes
are kept at $500.00 each. This is so that it is both manageable, and yet still
sizable enough to make a difference. In addition to this fund-raiser, are
operational
expenses such as retainers, promotional brochures such as inserts to transparent sleeves on
retainers, plastic bags, legal fees, phone cost, etc., needed to help establish
and support Cans For Charity.
As each
fund-raiser is fulfilled, we will detailed their fulfillment success on our
website. By keeping this amount to a manageable size, although not
insignificant when you realize how much it takes to translate 5 cents into $500,
Cans For Charity hopes to ensure relatively quick success for each goal, thereby
having the flexibility to cover other charitable causes in need.
